Exercise is an important part of our daily lives. It helps us lose weight, lower the risk of disease, heart attacks, lower blood pressure, makes us stronger etc, the benefits definitely out weight the cons.But why is exercise so powerful and important and what motivates you?
The benefits named above don't really resonate with me as motivating factors powerful as they certainly are its not what gets me moving.
Running two successful companies and being a full time mum to an activate bundle of joy can be very tiring and my motivation can swindle from time to time. Life is certainly hectic and it can be difficult to juggle work with social and family commitments let alone find the time to squeeze in some exercise.
But exercise empowers me to keep up with my hectic lifestyle and most importantly keeps me sane.
Exercise improves mood , sleep, reduces stress and anxiety. When you exercise your body releases chemicals called endorphins, which interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and trigger positive feelings. Regular exercise has been proven to reduce stress, ward off anxiety and the feeling of depression , boost self-esteem and improve sleep. Contrary to belief exercise actually increase energy levels enabling me to multi task frequently throughout my day.
These are the factors that motivate me to exercise. It enables me to be great mum, loving caring patient wife and friend, a successful business owner and at peace with my body and mind. If you can find out what exercise motivates or empowers you, you won't fall off the bandwagon again. Don't make exercise a chore you have to do, because you want a chiseled body or a six pack. Don't get me wrong , a shrinking waistline ,flattened stomach etc are all bonuses but its not what motivates me to keep active.
Find out what motivates you and you can't fail or fall off the bandwagon. Let exercise empower you to be the best version of you both physically and mentally.
